In our last report, I may have seemed a bit insensitive talking about the pain of delivering in saying that it’s a good thing. It is. It helps the mom push out the baby. But, women don’t have to have severe pain all the time. It can be minimized with a procedure called an epidural. Basically by inserting anesthesia into the spinal chord pathways, it can actually help the pain be reduced so it can be controlled. If it’s overdone, the pain actually doesn’t allow the delivery to occur as quickly. If it’s underdone, it can be too painful. But the right balance is often found.
