Pressure ulcers are becoming one of the major worries in hospital settings.  Why am I saying that?  Because we are now realizing that Medicare, one of the major payers in medicine, is saying that pressure ulcers need to be not only diagnosed, but they need to be diagnosed prior to the time of admission.  If someone has a pressure ulcer that has been led to or caused prior to hospital admission and it's not recognized, Medicare won't pay for that admission for the patient's care if it isn't picked up on that exam at the initial part of entering the hospital.
