Sometimes I have women coming in with complaints that there’s bumps on their arm or on their leg and it gets red and swollen. What you may in fact have with a bump like this when it occurs like that is a folliculitis. An ingrown hair that somehow gets infected. With the infection comes the fact that you get the redness and the swelling. Folliculitis can be treated with antibiotics either locally or systemically. Sometimes, however, you actually have to have the area incised and drained. Somebody take a look at it and find out if it’s all cleared out.
